TFMS first deployed the SWIM publication service “TFMData” on November 8, 2014 as part of TFMS Release 10 (R10). This service included both Flight Data and Flow Information. TFMS Release 13 (R13) was deployed May 1, 2016 and added enhancements to the Flight and Flow data feeds, while still continuing to provide the legacy R10 data feeds. The R10 Flight and Flow data feeds will be discontinued on September 30, 2017. Consumers of the legacy R10 data feeds must complete transition to the enhanced R13 data feeds by September 30, 2017. No changes are being made to the existing TFMS R13 TFMData feeds (Flight Data, Flow Information, Request/Reply, Terminal, International, and Status). The only impact is to the legacy TFMS R10 TFMData feeds (Flight Data and Flow Information). Refer to the below sections for the specific changes which must be addressed by the consumer for the transition from R10 to R13.
Detailed information on the TFMS R13 TFMData service is contained in the Java Messaging Service Description Document (JMSDD) and XSD (XML Schema Definition) files, version 2.0.5. These documents may be downloaded from the FAA’s NAS Service Registry/Repository (NSRR) at https://nsrr.faa.gov and are included in the file “TFMDataService-v2.0.5.zip”. (For download instructions, refer to “How can I obtain documentation about the TFMData Service?”.)
Please work with your SWIM Point-of-Contact (POC) to coordinate your transition. Transition from the legacy R10 TFMData Flight Data and Flow Information feeds (TFMData schema version 1.7) to the current R13 TFMData Flight Data and Flow Information feeds (TFMData schema version 2.0.5) must be completed by September 30, 2017.
Overview of R13 changes
Several changes were made in TFMData from Release 10 (R10) to Release 13 (R13), including:
a) Addition of four new TFMData business functions (Terminal Flight Data, TFM Request/Reply,
International Data, and TFMS Status)
b) Addition of new attributes and elements to R10’s Flight Data and Flow Information
c) Change of existing elements of R10’s Flight Data and Flow Information
Generally, consumers will just need to recompile with the new R13 TFMData schema (v2.0.5). The four new TFMData business functions introduced in R13 do not impact the Flight Data and Flow Information business functions, and may simply be ignored by consumers of Flight and Flow. The new data elements and attributes introduced in R13 Flight and Flow may also simply be ignored by the consumer if desired. There are however several changes to existing Flight and Flow data elements for transition from R10 to R13 which must be explicitly addressed by updates to the client software. Details follow below.
Addition of new attributes and elements to R10’s Flight Data and Flow Information:
The below table details the new data elements and attributes that have been introduced in the R13 schema (version 2.0.5) for Flight Data and Flow Information. Refer to the JMSDD and the schema files for additional details. These new data elements and attributes introduced in R13 Flight and Flow may simply be ignored by the consumer if desired.

The below table details the changes to existing Flight Data and Flow Information elements from R10 (schema version 1.7) to R13 (schema version 2.0.5). Refer to the JMSDD and the schema files for additional details. These changes must be explicitly addressed by updates to the client software.
